Great food, and I'd highly recommend their signature cocktail, the sour toe. It comes with a real preserved toe.
Great stay. Room was clean and they put a mobile AC unit in the room wich was great. The historical ambiance is oddly refreshing. A nice 'change' to not change it's character. Shower was hot-cold. Literally would burn one second and then be ice cold the next. (Hence 4 stars) I didn't interact with any staff, but they seemed friendly. I would stay here again. The Sour Dough saloon is just downstairs. Home of the Sour toe cocktail.
I completely enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was everything I needed it to be. It was clean & the beds were comfortable. I liked the location. And it was decently quiet. The shower had great water pressure. The staff were very friendly & helpful. I locked my key in my room by mistake & they were super quick, giving me another key to get back in. I love the little candy sour toe they leave it the room. It made me giggle! Nice touch. We stayed 5 nights at this location & I only have 1 complaint (which is a small one), when we were running low on toilet tissue, we had to go to the desk & ask for more. I don't know why the didn't replace it or leave some during housekeeping. Anyway, it didn't matter. The location is great. It's very central. We were able to leave our car parked here & walk pretty much everywhere which we really enjoyed. It's a GREAT place. The parking can get a little tight as it is just street parking but you only need to worry about that once since you can just walk after you get there! Love the attached saloon! I felt completely safe & comfortable coming & going from the hotel at all hours.
I recently stayed at The Downtown, a Coast Hotel, for two nights while traveling to and from Whitehorse from Inuvik. I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's charm, cleanliness, and cozy atmosphere, which had a lovely old European vibe. The staff were incredibly kind, approachable, and easy to talk to, making my stay even more enjoyable. The bed and pillows were absolutely luxurious, and I loved the amenities in the bathroom, including the organic lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. It's great to see that the hotel is going green! The hotel's location is also a major plus, being close to many great restaurants. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend The Downtown, a Coast Hotel, to others.
